CheckYourself is a handy and reliable Firefox extension designed to prevent you from obsessively visiting various websites.
It manages to do so by alerting you each time you try to access one of these web pages. You can create a list of websites together with block intervals and set various limitations.
From the preferences page, set what pages should be monitored. On your second attempt to visit the page before the timeout period, CheckYourself will helpfully tell you to check yourself, at which point you may or may not be given the option to continue to the page, depending on your preferences.
